I have spent a lot of time thinking about ‘why a trophy critter’ lately.  Part of the answer is ‘they’re rare, and usually didn’t get to be a trophy without being a ‘smart’ individual for the species, which means they are more of a challenge, and having the trophy shows that you have overcome that challenge.’   I eat what I hunt – if the choice was ‘take a trophy you can’t eat’ vs. ‘pass the trophy and take an animal for the table,’ I would take the animal for the table, every time.

That being said, here are a few of my father’s trophy animals – if you click on either image it will take you to the 323 Archery photo gallery. (I’m running out of ‘free’ space on WordPress, so I may be posting more photos over there and linking to the gallery.)
